I called this page the redneck country boy, cause only us rednecks would think up some of the stuff that hubby or I for that matter think up. Alot of us grew up in the country and not alot of money to go around, so we learned how to get by, how to fix things with what we had or for very cheap. Now a days things really haven't changed that much  in those regards and hubby is an everyday reminder of what we learned  growing up and how we still use those "ole" techniques to this day and pass them on down to our kids when they ask us how to fix something ect.
A few years ago we had a hot tub given to us. It needed some repairs to pipes and the heater needed to be replaced, and  needed a really good cleaning as it had been out of service for quite awhile. So we proceeded to get it to our place which just happen to be down the road from the neighbors that gave us the tub. Needless to say anyone watching would of been laughing all day. Hubby came down n got his tractor and with his big heavy rope in tow went up made a sling with the rope for the tub to hang in and lifted it up with the bucket of the tractor and brought it home. Once we got it all cleaned up and inspected for what would be needed to make it work again, we went online to do some pricing. At that point in time there wasn't any extra funds available to be able to replace the heater. At this point hubby got real inventive and thus began the story of how our first hot tub was heated. The following photos are of our "redneck hot tub heating unit" and how it was used for more then just heating up the hot tub.

First ya get an old grill out, an make                        Next you work on putting hoses together
a home made heat exchanger                                   for water to go through from tub to grill.

Next you & your buddy inspect whats done            Next get the pipes, hoses ect. connected
so far making sure its right.                                                      and sealed tight.

Its always nice to have a friend thats
a plummer help ya out .                                                  Inspecting the funky plumming!

Now add in the propane tank, and the lava rocks under the heat exchanger, light and wait!!

Once heated and all is operating the way it should get a nice big ole juicy steak and slap it on the
grill to cook. Set up a picnic table for two and wait for all to cook,

Finally when all is done sit down and enjoy a nice BBQ meal while the hot tub is still heating via way of
the grill. Once done, sit back and relax till the tub is hot enough for your taste, jump in and enjoy!

This is our good ole country redneck way of doing things when yur low on funds! Who said ya can't heat a tub without a "traditional" heater!!!
